Question
i am an 18 year old canadian citizen trying to escape the winter months. i would absolutely love to move to st. thomas and work there but im having trouble finding out answers to a lot of questions i have so i was hoping you could help me. i realise that st. thomas is US territory so what exactly would i need to live there for say 6 months - 1 year as far as paper work goes? i was also wondering if there are many jobs for people my age.. i was hoping to do a boat tour or something of the sort. if that was the case would i need a scuba license or first aid/CPR training? as for apartments, i've read that studio and one bedrm apartments can be relatively cheap but would they rent to an 18 year old?

Answer
Hi Amanda-  Since you are considering relocating to our island, I would highly suggest checking out the website- www.vimovingcenter.com

They are a valuable resource for people considering moving to the US Virgin Islands.  They also have a very active message board where you can get help to all your questions regarding relocating here.  As for jobs, it's the same as anywhere else I suppose. There are plenty of day sail & charter boats where you could get a job as crew or a diving position if that is what you're looking for.  As for the legalities, aside from a Passport, since you are Canadian, I'm not sure exactly what is required.  The website/message board I mentioned, may be able to answer that also.  Best of luck to your in your endeavors.  Have a great week.

Regards,
Susie
