Question QUESTION: My family will be staying in St. Thomas and St. John during our trip. Is there a difference in price for groceries between the islands? Also, can you suggest some grocery stores at both locations? Can you buy liquor at the grocery store.
Thanks,
Wes
ANSWER: It is more expensive for groceries in St.John. You'd be better off buying in St.Thomas and taking the ferry to St.John. Out of Red Hook, I believe the ferry is only about $8.00 and takes around 15 minutes. It is a bit more expensive to take the ferry to St.John from downtown.
All grocery stores sell liquor and cigarettes also, both things are quite inexpensive here. It depends on where in St.Thomas you are staying, to buy food. The main grocery store is Pueblo within walking distance from the cruise ship dock. There is also 3 more large grocery stores but not sure if you will be renting a car. It wouldn't be worth taking a taxi to get to them. Most are close to the TuTu Shopping Mall area. Again, I would need to know exactly where you are staying to be able to help you any better.
Take care.

Susan

QUESTION: I will be staying at the Frenchmen Reef. Also, is there a grocery store near Red Hook so we can buy food just before we catch the ferry to St. John.
Answer I believe Marina Market is on the way to Red Hook. It's kinda pricey though but probably slightly cheaper than any store in St.John. Great Deli there too!
Enjoy your trip. Let me know if I can be of further help. Have a great weekend!
