Question QUESTION: Greetings:
As an ex USVI resident, I am considering moving back. I have credit problems on the mainland and wonder if I can start fresh in the VI with my old credit history?
Thank you,
Bill
ANSWER: Greetings Bill-
Unfortunately your credit history will follow you no matter where you go. Sorry. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide.
Respectfully,
Susie

QUESTION: Thank you:
I am a bit confused, sorry. Several years ago I purchased an auto in the VI (as a resident) and when a credit report was checked only my local reports showed. Have things changed that much? Do banks automatically check the three major bureaus?
Thank you very much. I have been rated you the highest possible.
Respectfully,
Bill
Answer I'm not sure I understand exactly what you need to know. If you owe money in the mainland, you will still owe it here. Whomever you owe to, will eventually find you, should you either apply for a loan/lease/apt. of any kind. Or if you get a job on the books, they will find you. Also, if you get a checking or savings account here, they will track you down. I hope this helps. You can try posing your question on www.vimovingcenter.com. They have very active message boards and someone may know the answer to this better than me.
