U.S. Virgin Islands/Snorkeling conditions

Question
Good evening! We are traveling in April to your beautiful island with our two young children. Are there any concerns with a "rougher" surf on the north or west side that may make snorkeling harder for age 7?
Thank you so much.

Answer
Hi Brian-  There's no concern for North vs. South here.  However weather and sea conditions vary daily so check that the surf is of normal conditions, (you shouldn't have to worry).  Magens Bay Beach is located on the North side.  It is considered one of the top 10 beaches in the world by National Geographic Society.  However, it is NOT the best for snorkeling.  I would suggest Sapphire Beach which is especially wonderful snorkeling for children or beginners.  You can snorkel in as little as 5-6 feet of water, and see the same beautiful fish you would see in deeper waters.

I hope this helps.  Let me know if I can be of further assistance.  Have a great time during your stay.

Respectfully,
Susie
