Question
QUESTION: Hi there!

I am looking at the US Virgin Islands for a possible vacation spot. We usually do all inclusive, and I don't see any so far. We would like to know where the best beach is for swimming and sunbathing, with lots of things to do like shopping, and maybe snorkeling on site. Lots of restaurants. Would love seafood if we could get that.
Went to Negril last year in Jamaica. The food was okay, and best was something great. Is there any such place that has a great beach and great food, with all the extra's. Would rather have an all adult area, but this may be hard to find too. Just wondering if the US Virgin Islands would something that would meet our expectations. It looks wonderful, would love to visit. If you can assist, thank-you in advance for your time. Jan

ANSWER: Hi Jan-  voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world, by National Geographic Society, is Magens Bay.  They also have a bar/restaurant, shopping, and water sports.  For snorkeling I would suggest Sapphire Beach which also has a bar/restaurants, and water sports.  There are quite a number of good places to eat here.  I suggest you go to www.vinow.com which has a lot of info.  There is also a very active message board there with locals, where you can pose tons of other questions.  Some nice places to stay here would be Marriott which is right on the beach and has a deli, store, and restaurants.  Another good place would be the Wyndham Sugar Bay which is more upscale and also has a lot of shopping and restaurants on site.

Hope this helps.  Have a great weekend!

Regards,
Susie

QUESTION: Thank-you Susie for such a quick reply. I have been looking at Caneel Bay and Buckineers. Would like something right on the beach. Thanks again. Do any of the resorts or hotels have fresh seafood? Jan

Answer
There are many great restaurants here that serve fresh local seafood.  Some of the best would be the Caribbean lobster- (no claws), Conch- (try conch fritters), or Mahi Mahi.  Once you get to St.John or St.Thomas, look for all the free local guide brohures available at most stores and throughout Havensight and Downtown St.Thomas.  Naturally you have to get to St.Thomas before St.John since there are no airports in St.John.

Let me know if you need any other help.  Take care.

Regards,
Susie
