About Marius A. Schmidtke
Expertise
U2`s sound and equipment! I metU2`s Edge and his guitar tech already personally in real life.

Experience
I met Edge's Tech Dallas Schoo once and he was quite amused about the design of the webpage. He laughed, when he saw the little VOX images there.

Question
How does the Edge get the tone for the lead riffs and the verse voicing on "One"?  What types of effects are involved

Answer
hi steve!

thanx for your question.

during the studio version edge has used his '59 gibson es-330 together with a vox ac-30. the delay you hear there was a korg sdd-3000. the overdrive pedal was probably a boss od-1, but a sd-1 or a ts-9 will work too to replicate the sound. this is actually all. for the end riff edge used to use two mono delays in series. one is a sdd-3000 and the other is a tc 2290. this gives him this rhythmic delay sound which has much sustain.

if you need some more information you might gonna check out my private website at www.u2sound.com , there you will find lots of additional information (including sound samples of that riff + a discussion forum).

i hope i could help you. if so, i would be happy if you could rate me on allexperts.com website.

greetings from germany...
