Question My 1981 mercedes 300 sd turbo diesel will not turn off! It is in the driveway running right now. I am able to take the key out and it just keeps going. I need to know how to turn it off now because I dont want the fuel to run out and burn up the engine. Can you please tell me what I can do? I know I will have to take it in but cant do that until the end of the week. Thank you for any help you can provide. Glad there are experts out there willing to help!
Answer if it is manual drive , stalling will be a good start. If auto then undo the main fuel pump pipe. looks as though the vacuum stop device has gone faulty . there is a lever connected to this external you can also move that to stop engine. local fuel repairer will need to fit a new device onto pump, or the vacum pipe has come off the device, needs to be checked out by local repairer anyway.
