andy
Answer -
The only good thing about the 1.8 diesel is that it would be cheap to insure, but your age will dictate the cost anyway.
Answer -
depends on age the later ones really fly but older ones crap.
Answer Astra turbo diesel with the Jap Isuzu engine not the vauxhall, they are very sporty. Unfortunately the engine is better than the car because after all it is a vauxhall. But it goes very well and you should be able to find them around, and being jap engine , mileage is not to much of an issue , good for 400k .
The later diesels, which might be out of your price range for a starter car, have a different diesel system called " common rail" the toyota yaris 1.4 D4D TD will beat any diesel in the same category. The latest VW tdi is a suicide machine 150bhp , for a diesel that is amazing 1.8 as well but again not exactlly a starter car.
Away for one week now so good luck, and take your damn time!
