Question QUESTION: Hi,I have a Astra 1.4 GLS M REG... My main lights are not working,they indicate they are on the dash board but there not.My other lights work fine (Indicators,fog and brake).Any idea's..Thanks
ANSWER: Hi Johnny, do you have power at the bulb fitting and a suitable ground ? if so then it is just bulbs, if not then you would have to start looking at the TWO fuseboards in the car. is it front and rear lights which do not work ? - let me know and we can see where to go from there - Paul

QUESTION: Hi Paul,iv'e checked the fuses on the panel under the steering wheel and they seem to be ok.With the rear lights the indercaters work as do the brakes so its just the main lights,with the front lights again the indercaters work as does the full beam so again its just the main lights.I've checked the bulbs and they are all fine.Hope that makes sense,i really appreciate your help.

ANSWER: Hey Johnny, it sounds to me like it is the light switch. Get one from a scrap yard and try it out right there (most will let you do it) it should only cost £10-£20 - let me know how it goes. - Paul

QUESTION: Thanks Paul,im not very good with cars as you might have gathered ha ha,when you say light switch do you mean the switch that i actually use on the dash board to turn the lights on etc?.If this is the fault atr they easy to fit?.Im actually trying to sort this out for my brother he's not good with cars either n not too clever using a PC!.

Answer Hi Johnny, yes thats it, the light switch on the dash, they just pop out when you press the tabs in and disconnect them. The guy at the scrap yard might give you a hand if you ask nicely, it's pretty easy to someone with a bit of experience. don't worry about not being good with cars because we all have our strengths- good luck - Paul
