Expert: Craig Thomson Date: 11/9/2006 Subject: Internet Explorer
Question When using a search engine such as Yahoo, the system freezes when you click on the link provided by the search. All other links appear to work fine that were on the search engines home pages etc. I have reinstalled IE6 and 7 and the same problem persists. I have used article 318378 to do this without success. As a stop gap, I have used Firefox Ver 2. Any information would be gratefully appreciated
Answer Hi Bob
You might be missing the new java. microsoft no longer make java so things like search buttons may not work anymore with the old java installed. Go to http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_ie.jsp to download the new version.
You might have a spyware or adware program thats called a browser hijack causing this problem try scanning your computer for spyware and adware also try a virus scan just in case its anything else.
Sometimes Internet explorer can get corrupted and reinstalling it helps but since you have already done this and it failed then it's probably not Internet explorer but something outside it causing the problem like one of the above.
The website your using might even have problems itself or your isp might be having problems aswell so it might not be a problem in your actual computer. usually they fix the problem in good time but if it persists then you might want to get them a phonecall or email them.
