Question
Dear Brian Rogers,
I have married a UK citizen and have a one year spouse visa which expires in April 2004. I know I need to fill out the SET (M) form (Indefinite leave to remain) but how long does this visa last? Forever? They have changed the rules since I received my visa in 2003 and now I want to be sure that I am filling out the correct forms. If you could provide any information to clarify that would be wonderful!
Kind Regards, Naomi

Answer
Hi Naomi,
You need to fill out SET(M) indefinite leave to remain form.
That gives you as it says indefinite leave to remain.
You cannot lose that permission unless you have practiced fraud to obtain it or commit some serious criminal offence and even then it is difficult to take away.
Providing you are still living with your husband when you make the application the leave is as it says indefinite.
If you have any doubts type Home Office into your search engine nad then look at the Immigration and Nationality page.
Good Luck
Brian
