Question my boy-friend lives on the island. i want to move there. i have been searching for info on the steps i need to take but have had no luck. we do want to get married eventually but we don't want to be in a big rush about it. the british consulate said i would have to marry him within 6 months but there has to be another way. if you know what i will need to do it would be greatly appreciated
Answer Hi Jamie,
I am afraid that the British Consulate is right. You can apply for a fiancee visa but that means that you have to be married within six months.
The only exception is if you are a British Commonwealth citizen between 18 and 26 years of age. Then you could apply for a working holiday visa. That is not available to non Commonwealth citizens.
Sorry I cannot be of more help
Brian
