Question
Hi there!
I'm learning Java, so I have installed Eclipse. Few days ago I have updated my Java version from 1.6 to 1.7, and that day everything was OK. But today I've tried to open Eclipse and it gives me an error:  "JVM terminated. Exit code=13 /usr/bin/java...". Then I tried to do it from terminal and I've got another error: "Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM warning: You have loaded library /usr/lib/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_64_1.1.100.dist/eclipse_1408.so which might have disabled stack guard. The VM will try to fix the stack guard now. It's highly recommended that you fix the library with 'execstack -c <libfile>', or link it with '-z noexecstack'."
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 64bit
Please, help me to deal with problem!

Answer
The fact that the VM is trying to fix things suggests the problem is with the VM app, not with Ubuntu.  If the 'execstack' command refers to a JRE command then you'd run it from a JRE prompt.  If it's a Linux command then running this:

# which execstack

will return with a complete pathname for execstack.  If it is a Linux command I can't advise you run it since I don't know what it does.

Where it says "link it with '-z noexecstack'."

This is a workaround you can try in the event there is no execstack command.  To follow the advice,

# ln -z noexecstack

This would make the OS think there is a file named execstack but, when its run, it will really run the noexecstack.

Please tell us what you do and what happens.

NOTE: The command syntax shown requires you to be root.  Running `sudo su -`
will let you run as root.  ('su' is 'Spoof User' and the '-' defaults to 'root')
