Subject: Noise

Question
Hi Nathan, I want to ask you why do my computer is so noisy when I turn it on? It diminishes after some time, then it comes back. Do I have to clean it inside? Can the smoke of my cigars be affecting its heat? The strange is, it is really more noise in the first hour turned on.

Answer
Usually noise especially a loud humming or rubbing noise. It usually indicates a hard drive that is going bad and is grinding or a fan that the sealed bearings have gone out ...if the noise diminishes as you say I would guess its probably a fan. Open the case and listen to which area its coming from and its probably the fan located in that area.
