Question My family sings gospel music and we're wanting to try using a laptop as our accompaniment. I have a sister that plays a keyboard and we'd like to transfer a few of our songs onto the laptop, so she can stand with us while we sing and takes off pressure of playing, since she doesn't read music. We'd also like to load performance tracks from cd's and cassettes. We have a sound system but I'm not sure how it would connect to the laptop, like what kind of port would be needed. We're planning on using the Emcee Pro program to scroll words to the music and be able to key up whatever songs we wish to perform.
Answer Hi Vicki,
Can you provide me with some specifics about your sound system so that I can suggest a method of connection? In general, if your sound system accepts some sort of external jack, there are cables that can go from the laptop speaker port to the sound system input even if the jacks are not the same size.
What operating system are you running? For XP I would recommend 1 gig of ram and for Vista 2 gigabytes. A hard drive of 250 gigs should suffice for the type of activity you are describing.
