Subject: PC startup
Question Shan, I have a number of windows that open on startup. It is a nuisance and slows the computer down when starting up. I have gone into msconfig and did what I thought I had to do to stop the windows from reappearing. One of the windows relates to accounting software, for example. Another window is the help text in pdf for that accounting software. What do I do to control what opens up on startup? Many thanks. Sam
Answer Hello Sam,
My apologies for the delays. I've had to fix some things here on my end, now on to answering your questions:
If you're using Microsoft Windows, most likely the culprit is the StartUp folder.
The easiest way I've known to do it is to go to Start, then Programs, then look for the StartUp folder. Delete any shortcuts out of it by right-clicking on what you "don't want" to startup anymore.
Here's a webpage from about.com that describes how to do just that (Windows XP):

Keep me posted.
Shän
