Subject: komputer concern
Question QUESTION: As I am not the most knowledgeable person on computers. I have an annoying problem. My computer is constantly running. It used to make a running sound when it first started, but then it got quiet. It does change pitch occasionally but newer gets quiet cpmpletely. The last time it did get quiet was when I smacked it, lightly, on the side but, it became noisy again. It seems to be working ok otherwise, but the sound is annoying. Should i be concerned? Is there somthing I could do? Thank you
ANSWER: Sounds like you have a loose part or a cable hitting a fan or unbalance.
You need to lightly check the parts by making sure they are pushed in and make sure nothing is hitting the fan.
Try putting something under a corner of the computer base if it unbalance.
Sometimes there is no way to stop it.
Good luck,
John

QUESTION: Thanks for your quick response. I tried what you recommended, but the fan still constantly ran. I noticed the fan was pretty dirty so I blew it out with a little low pressure air. Now the fan does stop running and the computer seems to be working OK. Now the is a slight noise that is in-sinc with the hard drive indicator light. The fan has be so noisy for so long I cannot remember if this is normal or not. Should I be concerned about this noise?
Answer Please do not use low pressure air on computer parts. There could be do much force and you could damage the parts. Always use a can of air that can be found at your local store.
If the fan has stop working as you said, you need a new fan.
If it is still working, I would recommend you go to newegg.com and get a quite running fan.
The noise and light from the hard drive that are sync is right. No concern there. The noise is the hard drive spinning. The light is telling you the hard drive is reading.
So I would recommend a new fan. Make sure you know if it is a 3 or 4 pin fan. Look at the fan, and the part that plugs into the power, if it is big and plugs to the wires from the power supply, it is 4 pin. If it connects to the motherboard, it is 3 pin.
Good luck,
John
