Question
My Husband and I are UU's and are curious to know if there have ever been any schools associated with the UU church?  Is there any specific policy of the UUA concerning this issue?

I realize that you may have no knowledge on this subject at all, but it is worth a shot.  I appreciate any information you can share.

Thank you,
Cristi

Answer
Hi Cristi -

Yes, my UU Church, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder (UUCB), Colorado, has a school (the "Sage" school) using the Religious Eduction (RE) wing during weekdays.  The school is, I believe, a K - 8 level school.  There is no connection between the school and the church; only the tenant-landlord relationship.

Prior to "Sage" using the school, we (UUCB) had another school (the "Our School" school) who used the RE wing for elementary level (K-5) education.  While that school did not have a direct relationship with UUCB, "Our School" did give preference to children of UUCB families.

Not sure if this answers your question, but that is my only direct knowledge of "any schools associated with the UU church."  I suspect there is not "any specific policy of the UUA concerning this issue" but you should check with our national organization on that.  Please contact our web site http://uua.org/ for more details.

Good luck,

Jon Bond
