One prayer that is very powerful, is "if it is in my best interest, and the best interest of beings everywhere..."
this is a wonderful way to start a request to the universe. it gives context.

The wonderful thing about being a UU is that you can draw from traditions of people from all walks of life. You can look through "singing the living tradition" for UU songs and recitations.

put aside that this was posted in 2005. I was searching on the internet for some simple prayers that I could share with my children before bedtime.....or even before breakfast every day. Wow......I must say I was taken aback by this particular response to a relatively generic question. I will keep it short in saying that the responder was waaaaay to analyitical. We parents...who are spinning our wheels half the time.......are looking for quick and simple conclusions to our problems. Life moves way to fast for us to stop and contemplate. We know what we know......we know what is right.....and we need some direction sometimes. Just deliver.
So........as the "prayer" thing has become an important concern of mine....I want to share with you one that I wrote.....for the time of being.......and I say this with my kids everynight. I hope to write several more....so we can have a variety.....but at least this gets their little brains moving in the right direction.
SPIRIT OF LIFE
I LOVE YOU & YOU LOVE ME,
YOU MAKE ME STRONG IN ALL I SEE,
WE WORK AS ONE TO ALL BE GOOD,
AND BE AT PEACE....WE KNOW WE SHOULD.
MAKE US STRONG EVERY DAY,
AND WE GIVE BACK IN EVERY WAY.

I know it is very simple,
but my kids....being 5 and 7...can only absorb so much at this point.
I hope this reaches others who can use the info.
