Expertise
I`m nineteen years old and I`m an expert in the United Arab Emirates culture. I`m one of country`s locals so I`m able to answer any question about the culture of United Arab Emirates, and the culture of the Arabian Gulf countries in general. You can ask me anything about the culture or the traditions of the United Arab Emirates. I don`t have enough information about the history of the traditions or the name of the tools that were used in the past. I`m also able to answer your questions about the United Arab Emirates youth and what they are interested in nowadays. I won`t be a much of a help in the matters of business. I can only help you with the culture & the people of UAE.

Experience
I'm living my life according to the cultural and the traditions of the UAE so it will not be that hard on me to answer your questions.

Subject: how are girls and boys brought up in the United Arab Emirates

Question
Dear Hope,

I am very interested in the upbringing of Emirate girls, as compared to boys. Are girls taught different values and prepared for a different role in life than Emirate boys? Do Emirate parents want girls to develop the same behaviour and personality traits as boys, or is it different?

Answer
Dear Susanne ,

That was really an interesting question that made me look closer for similarities and differences between my brother and me !

Well the interesting thing, is that when children (girls, boys) are 7  or less lets say 5 parents assign different tasks to them, like for example the girls help the mother with domestic job, and the boy helps his father in house handy jobs (repairing..etc )even it wasn't really helping but more like observing .  The girls are taught that even if they are girls they have to have the bigger responsibility of running a house, but that doesn't mean that the whole learning thing goes with the girl and not the boys. There is sort of a different learning for each, but the same moral and ethical traits are a must. The boys learn that someday they will have to get a job and have a family of his own with his job or working and getting the money, the girl on the other hand learns that she someday will have her own house to run and a family to take care of.

Girls in UAE and other gulf countries are taught to work and get what they want in a delicate way, we see girls in Europe and other countries losing their self respect for a job or whatever, we here try to accomplish things with keeping in mind that we are women and princess !

You cannot say that the personality traits in boys and girls are the same, for me most of my family members have a strong character that goes for the girls and boys, but the girls tend to be more sensitive, that is just mother nature, the parents only form the personality of the children by morals and ethics the other traits are formed by the society and the circumstances, the girls are not asked to have a soft personality and the boys a strong one.. It just happens according to the environment they are in. It is interesting that my personality and my brother's are different yet the same in some ways J

I hope that this is the answer you were looking for, if not please don't hesitate to write me back. You really have interesting question that I will be more than glad to try and answer.

Hope
