Question
Hello, I am a Junior and am very competitive in my sport - competing on a national level. I would like to know if the USNA is able to provide official visits (paid trip to visit coach and team.)  Some other very selective schools are hinting at offering this to me.  My grades and scores are well within the zone of admitted midshipmen.  The USNA is at the top of my list and I wonder if the USNA recruits athletes for their varsity sports like other Division I schools if the student meets the admission standards.
Thank you,
Phillip

Answer
Philliip,
Unfortunately the Naval Academy and the other academies are not able to pay for recruiting trips.  Other universities were able to pay for my recruiting visit.  The academies have restrictions on their funding.  I know that this was the case for swimming in 1993.  Rules may have changed on this though.

I would recommend you contacting the Naval Academy Athletic Office.  They can be found online.  They will be your best source of information.

I hope this points you in the right direction.
Eric
