Question I am seriously interested in applying to the Academy, but I do not know anyone involved in the Navy or with the Academy that could help me and write a recommendation. Do you know how i could go about finding and introducing myself to some high-ranking members of the navy and get to know them with hope that they would provide a recommendation?
Answer Nicholas,
Please get an application from the Naval Academy. It contains all instructions for the application process. You will need a nomination from a Congressman or Senator. Yes, there are other means to gain nominations, but those are the typical routes. It is much more easy than you think. Meeting high-ranking members of the military will not increase your chances of gaining a nomination OR appointment to the academy.
My best advise is to concentrate on your application process. If you have what it takes to gain an appointment, you will be fine.
