Actually, the academy will pay for PRK corrective surgery that will allow you to fly. You can take the option for corrective surgery during your junior year. Usually the only reason that you cant fly because of vision is due to really bad vision (somthing like 300/20)
so you should be fine, good luck!

This is not true. Having vision correction surgery on your own will exclude you from being a pilot. The only way to get surgery and be a pilot would be for them to do it. However, as of now, they only allow current pilots with deteriorating vision to have this privilege. Which means that you have to have uncorrected 20/20 vision to be initially become a pilot. For a naval flight officer you need to be correctable to 20/20. I do not know how corrective surgery affects NFO's however.
