Question Is Berkeley an expensive place to live off campus and, if so, how is the commute from nearby cities?
Answer Well sorry to break it to you, but Berkeley is a very expensive place to live off of campus. I have friends who got a place about eight blocks from campus and for a one bedroom apartment they are paying $1800 a month. I am currently trying to find a place in neighboring cities because I need a two bedroom apartment and even in places that would require me to take the bart (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to school, I am looking at paying at least $1100 a month! The commute if you have a car from near by cities wouldn't be that bad, but then once you got here it would be nearly impossible to find a parking space! Your best bet would be to get a place near a bart station and then you can ride that to school. The bart has a station in downtown berkeley that is only a block from the school and from the neighboring towns it is only $1.10 one way. Bart is much faster than the bus and it is usually always on time. I hope that this helps, if you have any other questions ask away. Oh, and sorry for the delay in answering I was on vacation for the fourth of july!
