Hello,
im currently a sophomore in a private boarding school in NJ and am very very interested in the huntsman program. I maintain good grades and am fluent in 2 laguages (+ learning spanish)but can you give me any advice on any specific steps i can take for the next couple years to improve my chances of getting accepted? Also, i am very intent on playing college tennis so does that hurt/improve my chances og getting accepted?

Thank you,

Answer
Hello and thank you for your email!

Congratulations on your achievements so far, and I’m glad that you’re interested in the program.

In terms of getting in, the most obvious thing that comes to mind is to maintain your grades and nab some great standardized test scores. A strong application to the program does not differ too much to a strong application to any top US college: strong demonstrated leadership, maturity, and academic excellence are a must. If you can, participate in organizations which deal with international affairs, or seek out work-study opportunities which can give you global exposure. But of course, don’t just do it as a check mark on your resume, you have to have a real passion for it. If you can, talk to alumni from the program (unfortunately I cannot put you directly in touch with alumni), and get their perspective.

College tennis will definitely improve your chances of getting in, so no worries there.

I hope this is helpful, feel free to write in if you have any more questions.

Adarsh Shah
