Question
Hi!

I'm REALLY interested in the Huntsman program! I love the fact that you can get a business degree and a degree that will enable you to relate it to the world simultaneously, but am very aware of the difficulty in getting in. I get good marks (especially in maths), and have been doing french for about 7 years, so I know that in that regard, I have reason to apply (apart from the fact that I really want to!).

I'm a south african student and have few business credentials - most of them are science-orientated as that is the type of competition that is available to me. I want to apply for the fall of 2008, but am worried about my lack of extracurricular (I do debating mostly)and work-experience credentials (I did go to a stockbrocking firm). Is there anything I can do to get them up to scratch?

Thanks so much!

Alexandra

Answer
Hello – thank you for your question! I must sincerely apologize for the delay in response, I had to make a somewhat last-minute trip to Kenya, where I didn’t have an internet connection for a while. I hope this delay doesn’t majorly inconvenience you.

I'm glad you're interested in the Hunstman program - given your profile it seems it would work well for you. I wouldn't worry about the business credentials - most applicants don't have significant business / financial knowledge prior to getting in. It is important to have leadership roles in your extracurricular activities, so do a few, and do them well. Try to find a leadership role which allows you to drive change through the organization. We need to see passion and intelligence shine through! Keep your grades up, and you should be in good shape! Let me know if I can do anything else to help a fellow African!
