Am planning on applying to wharton - but not quite sure of what kinda grades I need - if your familiar with IB I have approximately a - predicteded 37 points out of 42 rite now - but haven't written the SAT's - do u know if its possible for me to just write the ACT's and the SAT 2s to get in? I'm really running out of time for applications so need ur reply soon. If your familiar enough with IB could you please try and assess my chances to tel me if I even stand a chance or not..
By the way where were you in Kenya? St. Mary's Hillcrest - Breauburn?
Get back to me soon please,
Mukund
Answer Hi Mukund, good to hear from you.
I'm glad you're interested in applying to UPenn. In terms of trying to predict the grades you need to get in, honestly speaking there's no way to do that. The application is a very comprehensive file on you, and the admissions directors look at many facets of your high school career before making a decision. Grades are a part of it, but it would be inaccurate and unethical of me to try to predict whether you'll get in. If you are doing well in school, and you're keen and passionate about going to Penn, I would highly encourage you to apply. They like Kenyans!
The American College Test with Writing, may be used in lieu of the SAT I and two SAT II: Subject Tests, and personally speaking, people with our style of education tend to do better with the ACT. I would say though, because most US universities do require the SAT, so I would recommend you take it. You never know which one will serve you better unless you take both. Most people who get into Penn fall within the 90th percentile or better with the SATs and ACTs.
I went to Hillcrest, graduated in 2001! It feels like a long time ago.
Mukund, if you have any more questions, feel free to get in touch. I am also knowledble about the . Again, I do stress in terms of trying to assess your chances of getting in, don't listen to what people predict for you, it's not going to be accurate. If you're doing well, you stand a chance, and you personally know where you fall in the spectrum of applicants.
