Question Hello, my name is Daniel Jeesoo Kim and I am a senior at Northwest Christian High School. I have two questions regarding the Penn admissions and would like to thank you in advance for your help.
First, how does the acceptance rate to the Wharton School compare to that of College of Arts & Science?
Also, I am aware that one of the requirements to the Huntsman program is to have taken a college-based calculus course. I go to a college-prep private school and they do not offer AP or IB courses, although my calculus class is as rigorous as a college calculus course. So, would not having a college credit for calculus be a detriment to my admissions to Huntsman program? Thank you again!
Answer Daniel, thank you very much for your email - I'm glad you're looking into the Huntsman program.
Let me try tackle your questions:
1) The acceptance rate to the Wharton School is substantially lower, at around 12-14% vs around 20% for the College of Arts & Science. This is simply the result of supply and demand!
2) You'll be fine with your high school's calculus courses. As long as they are rigorous, Penn should be willing to look at them favourably. Fortunately, Penn reviews each application carefully, they'll be willing to work with the constraints you may face - just make sure you're taking the most challenging course load available and you'll be set!
