About Kat
Expertise
I can help with anything from freshman/transfer admissions to financial aid, from coursework to campus life. I'm extremely familiar with the College of Liberal Arts, but I know a fair share about other colleges as well.

Experience
I'm a senior with a double major in English and Government, and I'm also completing the Liberal Arts Honors program.

Question
Hey Kat I go to Texas A&M and i am in the business school and at the end of my freshmen year i am unhappy there. college station is not the right place for me. i want to transfer to UT because i visited austin a couple of times and i loved it, but my GPA isn't good enough (3.51) to get into UT's business school. the likely only way i would be able to transfer there is if I apply to the liberal arts school and change my major to economics.
Is it worth giving up admission into business school(finance major) at a&m and transfer to UT as a liberal arts major in economics? thanks for your help

Answer
Hi Shoaib,

Well, I'm not really sure what to say on this question. I would have to understand the economy and industry a little better! If you're worried about affecting your ability to get a job later on, the best then I can advise is to think about what kind of work you want to do, what kind of money you want to earn, and research what industries will be the best later on.

I will say that if you're unhappy in College Station, it might help you a lot to transfer schools. If you're happier outside of class you should do better in class, and if you feel more comfortable you will learn better. I can DEFINITELY understand why you would like Austin! If you decide to apply to UT, definitely don't mention your big reason for doing so is because you hate College Station and love Austin. They get a LOT of people trying to transfer for that very reason! Stick to explanations about your academics, UT as an institution, and maybe some professors you would like to take and you should be fine.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

- Kat
