I can help with anything from freshman/transfer admissions to financial aid, from coursework to campus life. I'm extremely familiar with the College of Liberal Arts, but I know a fair share about other colleges as well.

I'm a senior with a double major in English and Government, and I'm also completing the Liberal Arts Honors program.

Subject: Transferring to UT

Question
I am planning to transfer to UT for next Spring. I already submit all the required documents to UT. My first choice is Chemical Engineer (Engineering Department), and my second choice is Natural Science - Undecided/Prepharmacy
I have completed all three semesters of Calculus 1, 2, 3 with all A. I also took Physics 1 and I am currently taking Chem 1.
I have about 46 credits hours at the time I applied with 3.775 GPA
At the end of this semester, I will have about 60 credit hours.
In the essay, I said that I was a immigrant from a foreign country, and I tried to learn English and to adapt with the new culture. I put myself to college and studied really hard. Besides that, I work as a Math tutor in my college.
Do I have any chance to get in UT?

Answer
Hi Valerie,

Well, I'm not an admissions counselor, so I can't give you an absolute answer on this. I can only tell you whether you seem to be a strong candidate or not.

The Engineering and Natural Science schools are some of the most difficult to get into at UT, but you seem to have a really good shot. You have a strong foundation in all the introductory math with a great GPA! (I know the cut off for Natural Science is usually a 3.2, so you're in good shape there.) It also sounds like your essays really demonstrated that you are a hard worker and will easily adapt to the rigors of transferring to a large university like UT. It also helps that you are a math tutor (since it shows you get involved with your fellow students.)

UT is notoriously difficult to transfer into, because as the main state university in Texas it tries to accept mostly Texas residents. That said, I think you have a very strong application so you probably have a good shot!

Good luck!

Kat
