Unix/Linux OS - ssh sniffer

Expert: Robert McIntosh - 10/10/2009

Question
Hi Robert,
If I use ssh (from machine A)to enter other machine,
can the root or system admin(of machine A)use ssh sniffer to
see anything I did via this ssh session?

Answer
Hi ground,

If the system administrator rolled a custom ssh binary that you use, it is possible that that custom binary could be both a keystroke logger and a working ssh client.

Although, if you're on a trusted server, ie you trust the system administrator and the IT team, this is likely not the case.  But, the above is possible.
