Unix/Linux OS/Starting with Linux
I need to learn Linux for upcoming graduate study in physics. I'm a smart guy and a fast learner but I currently know essentially nothing about what goes on "under the hood" in computers and don't know anything about operating through the command line, kernels, shells, etc. Can you recommend for me the best book that STARTS FROM THE VERY BEGINNING with Linux and builds up so that I can become proficient with Linux? The book really should not assume much knowledge to start. Thanks so much.
I have no idea about Linux books, but you can search the net for phrases like 'Linux for Dummies' or 'Linux books for beginners' etc. Here are some online resources which might be helpful -
Hope this helps.
