Question
Hi nix.
I followed instructions on https://wiki.debian.org/SourcePackage#How_to_build_the_Debian_package.

after that, I extracted the binary from the deb file.

the md5sum of the binary is different from the binary which I installed via 'apt-get'.

can you explaind why?

Answer
Hi Shamal.

If the MD5 checksum is different, it indicates that files are different. Are they of the same size?

It is possible that some linking process takes place, but I doubt it.

Could it be that the apt-get pulled the package from one of the Debian's repositories? Then it would not be that strange that the binaries differ, since a binary can be built with optimizations for the platform it is being built on.
