Urology - Clear Discharge all STD test are negative.
Expert: Stephen W. Leslie, MD - 11/4/2009
Question About 10 months ago I discovered that I started to feel a wet feeling in my underwear and that I was having discharge. I went to my PCP and he did a swab test and my test came back negative for any STDs. I was prescribed Doxycycl and took for about 10 days. The discharge went away.
About 2 months later the symptoms came back. A clear discharge that looks alot like precum. I went to my doctor who prescribed me cipro for 3 days, as he said my test all came back negative, both urine and swab. the Cipro didn't work so i was prescribed Doxycycl for 10 days. This also did not work. I went back to him and he referred me to the urologist.the urologist but me on a 30 day dose of doxyclcl which again didn't work. I read to allow 20 days after taking an anti-biotic so test can be ran again with a clear diagnosis. The last time I went I was prescribed Detrol.
I don't understand I was prescribed a drug for frequent urination. my symptoms only seem to get worse and now my have a non stop discharge of clear (that looks like precum), now I can only go about 6 hours before I need to change. What can this be and what type of doctor should I be seeing?
Answer At this point, its impossible for me to determine what the nature of the discharge is. No clear diagnosis was provided by your current physicians. An infection seems unlikely given the antibiotics you've had. The detrol can sometimes help control excessive pre-cum which is why they decided to give it a try. You might want to consider a second urology opinion or see an Infectious disease specialist to make sure there isn't some odd infection still present.
