Urology - bladder distended

Question
In my report I was given with my discharge papers from a local hospital of the findings of my CT both w & w/o contrast it states that my urinary bladder is distended. What does that mean?

Answer
Kim:

Distended means that the bladder appeared full. This is an issue only if you had voided shortly before the test. A distended bladder shortly after you void could indicate some problem with bladder emptying. In this case, it was reported because it was noted but probably has no clinical significance. If in doubt, talk to your physician.
