Urology/First Digital Exam

Hello !
A few days I ago I received my very first rectal exam ever by a checked out OK but since then I have been left by a rather annoying pain in the rectal area.  Is this common ?  Is there anything safe I can take in order to alleviate the pain ?
Please advise.
Thanks !

There is no good reason to have any ongoing discomfort from a rectal examination.  In the even that happened here, we would recommend some standard pain medication like ibuprofen or naprosyn plus sitting in a hot tub and a recheck if the discomfort did not disappear.
