Question What should be done on the occassion that a male is sufferring from what I can only describe as blue ball prior to any sexual activity, where in the event of sexual activity of various sorts an orgasm is not reached? It has reached a point of extreme discomfort and swelling?
Answer This type of question comes up every so often. The conventional wisdom is that an ejaculation will relieve the "pressure" but scientifically the failure to ejaculate has no direct effect on the testicle. Semen is not stored in the testicle (it's stored in the seminal vesicle which is a small pouch under the bladder just behind the prostate) and there is no backup into the testicle.
There is probably no harm in masturbation or finding a similar release but there is no medical basis for the testicle swelling or becoming uncomfortable under the circumstances you describe.
