Question I had TURP 12-11-06 and still have trouble urunating. Is it possible that the doctor did not remove enought tissue?
Thanks
Answer Don, after a TURP, it takes about 6-8 weeks for the raw bed inside the prostate gland to heal. It actually forms a new lining to the urethra in this area. Prior to this time, it is common for the patient to have varying degrees of urinary frequency, burning with urination, and the periodic passage of blood in the urine. As with any operation, complications can occur. Urinary tract infection, excessive bleeding, difficulty with continence, etc. are just a few of these. Alyhough you did not define "trouble urinating" I would suggest that your urologist be made aware of your symptoms. In most cases, symptoms gradually resolve as healing occurs. Good luck.
