I have the exact same symptoms. I suddenly developed foamy urine. It is sometimes more foamy than others, but never not foamy. I also did a urinalysis and my protein was 15mg/DL. I also have lower back pain, localized to my left side about waist high, which feels like is originates from my pelvic bone (too low for kidneys). I lift weights about 3-4 x/week, and do cardio about 3 x/week. My pain may be a strain and unrelated, but I was sure I had kidney disease from reading information online. Like you were told, the foam in your urine may be caused by something else, but at 15mg/DL, there is no clinical significance to suspect proteinuria. I also have high blood pressure that is being controlled by Diovan 160mg/day.
Problems or questions related to the field of urology; ie urinary stone disease, urinary cancers (kidney, bladder, prostate, testis, etc.), urinary infections, etc. I no longer answer questions related to erection problems or male sexual dysfunction.
I am retired from the active practice of urology. My 34 years was totally in the clinical field and involved the entire gamut of genitourinary problems, with special interest in endourology.
