Question
Dr, During the past two years I have been using different drugs like, Anti-depressants, Anti-anxiety, NSAIDs ,acetaminphen and etc... Is it likely for me to develope kidney and liver problems in longterm period ?
The reason I am asking is that sometimes I have been using drugs without Dr's prescription especially Ibuprofen and acetaminophen for aches and pains.

Sinerely,
Jason

Answer
These types of medications are generally safe when taken as directed.  If you are taking them for a long period of time and in high doses, it's wise to consult with your physician.  Taking anti-anxiety and anti-depressants without a physician's supervision is unwise.  Acetaminophen in high doses is a common cause of liver failure so it should be taken only as directed.
