hi, i received a check, deposited it, bank said 5 days to clear, i took money out, check then came back as bad (scam, i have since found out), what can the bank do to me for the funds after they cleared the check, and i used the money?
Answer
I would ask them that. You owe them the money.
Although you were deceived by whoever gave you that check, the bank did nothing to you. So, I would suggest you work out some sort of payment system so that you can pay back the amount you owe to the bank. Hopefully the bank will cooperate with you. Otherwise they can sue you, and get a judgment, and conceivably go after you for the funds you owe them. If they choose not to pursue you in court, you will be blacklisted and denied the ability to open a bank account in your name until this amount is paid back to the bank.
