Question
Hello,
I am trying to create a digital elevation model or some other raster image showing the elevation of a river watershed. I have contour data but i don't know how to convert it into a raster format. i have tried using the "natural neighbour" function in ArcMap but it only turns the individual polylines into rasters. i need to fill in the gaps so i have one solid elevation raster.
i hope this is a clear enough explanation of my problem.
thank you
jay

Answer
Jay,
Follow the following procedure:
1- In arctoolbox, select 3D Analyst Tools
2- Select Raster Interpolation
3- Select Topo to Raster
4- In the dialog box that appears, browse and select the shape  file    of  contours (as input feature data
5- In the same dialog box, select the elevation Field of the contour shape file (under Field column)
6- Select a name for output raster
Good luck
