Using MS Access - embedding and making PDF files searchable
Expert: Richard Rost - 10/29/2009
Question Beginner level
I have too many magazines with only a few pages of projects of interest. I intend to scan them and would like to store them in a database so I can search them. How do I link a (most likely PDF) file so the content shows in the record? Is there a way to make the text in each PDF itself searchable, or do I have to create at least one field with search words for each record?
Thanks!
Susanne
Answer If you're going to take the time to scan these in, does your scanning software have an OCR feature? If so, can you just scan this data right to text and store that in your database? That would be the BEST solution.
