Using MS Access - Using an Access 2002/2003 database from a link on an expressions web intranet based system

Expert: Scottgem - 11/5/2009

Question
I have generated a link on the intranet site that is using a full UDC path.  The database that I am using is 2003.  I am trying to have users access the database from a link within the intranet.
The issues that I am getting are:  The user can attempt to open the database, it does not have a security certificate on it, and when the user selects to run the database... it goes to la la la la land.  The database does not open, there is not a lock generated on the database, and the database never does open.   If I am a user with access 2007 on my desktop I have no issues is access the link and accessing the database.
Some of the users get a pop-up that asks them to save the database.

If the user accesses the database from the file location without going through the intranet, they are able to access the database. This is telling me that the permissions are set correctly.

Any ideas?

Answer
I think you mean UNC path which is:

\\servername\sharename\foldername\filename

Is that what they are using?

If so, that's not an "intranet". An Intranet is using Internet technologies on a closed LAN.
