Question
QUESTION: Yes I am closing the form.
Are you referring to ControlSource of Report Text Box which is in the header?

You wrote:  Are you closing the Form?

Also its hard to tell, but the ControlSource of the control doesn't appear to be correct. It looks like you have extra parentheses in there. It should be:

=[Forms]![Parts_Catalog_Dashboard]![Look_Up_Item]

Hope this helps,

ANSWER: No you can't close the form. The form has to be opened to read the control.

And yes I was referring to the Controlsource of the textbox on the report.

Hope this helps,

QUESTION: The Form is the Dashboard so it is open after I type in the word.

I have copied and pasted your ControlSource for the textbox on the report.

This is the result I get on the report:

Text60: #Name?

Answer
Not sure what the problem is. If the formname and controlname are correct, then it should work.

Hope this helps,
