Using MS Access/Security to Access Project

QUESTION: How we can protect our Access 2010 project from stealing , copying, using from another person.

By Using MS-Access 2010 as front-end and back-end can we provide security to our project like other software (.Net / VB).

If any person copy our project on different location without our permission can we restrict to open the project and send mail directly  to us without knowing to pirates.

ANSWER: Hi Kundan,
Welcome again. Just like how we get a quick SMS no sooner you withdraw a large amount of CASH from an ATM, similarly we trigger an email no sooner someone loads the Access.ACCDB file with its first opening screen.
The code on the ON LOAD event should fire up an email to the Original author of the database. This security cannot be applied on the back-end database.

If you are so bothered about someone stealing data, then I must advice you to switch your backend to SQL-Azure. Your data can get access from only the front-end which has its user name and password. This can happen on the Internet from wherever in the world there is internet.

If you want to secure your data within the office then you must have SQL-Server 2008 R2 as your backend with MS-Access 2010 as front-end. It is very safe.

Do let me know your scenario.

QUESTION: Here I commited my knowledge is very basic into this domain.
And as I worked only older version of Access (i.e. access 2000)

On your advice 1 more query in my mind.

Even I use SQL Server 2008 R2 as back-end and MS Access 2010 as fornt-end. User can navigate to Tables tab and open the table or export it into another file.

Or s/he can change directly table value.

Hi Kundan,
The best way to secure your database is by hiding all the tables, and disabling the Shift key and the the Navigation bar.
I do that, it work. No headaches of anyone hacking a password or finding a gateway to import objects.

Best regards
Manish Batola.
