Question
QUESTION: hi scott,

I have a doubt in access -make table query.
Actually I have a main table and I have created make table query and new table has been created
When I updated on the main table ,the table which was created using make table query is not updated.

Please help.

Thanks in Advance.

ANSWER: Why are you using a Make Table? A Make Table creates a snap shot at the time its run. It doesn't automatically update when the source table updates. Just use a SELECT query. It will reflect the current state of the source tables.

Hope this helps,

QUESTION: Thanks for your reply.

If i create a SELECT query how can i bring it in new table.
Actually I need a new table with data when i updated in main table it should be reflected in newly created table.

Thanks!

ANSWER: Why do you think you need a new table? As a matter of fact, it is bad procedure to have multiple tables with the same data.

Generally, Make Table queries are used to create temporary tables for performance reasons.

QUESTION: Actually I have data's from 2008 in main table. But I need data's from October 2009 only and I don't want to delete data's.that's y I created make table query. Please advice.

Thanks !

Answer
So, as I said, you create a regular Select query that is filtered to only show 2009 data. Whenever you need to see only October 2009 data you use that query. Or you could make a query that reads criteria from a form so you can filter for whatever time period you need. That's what queries are for?

What is the SQL for your query?
