Sorry couldnt ask any more followups.....i just want the first 7 characters from that line to be displayed....and they are all generic textbox1.text to textbox7.text etc

Answer
You syntax should then be:

TextBox1.Text = strFields(0)
TextBox2.Text = strFields(1)
TextBox3.Text = strFields(2)
TextBox4.Text = strFields(3)
TextBox5.Text = strFields(4)
TextBox6.Text = strFields(5)
TextBox7.Text = strFields(6)

VB.Net doesn't support Control arrays.
