Question HI ANDREA,
I WAS WONDERING IF YOU HAD A FULL COPY OF THE FAMOUS VAN HALEN OAKLAND, CA CONCERT FROM THE LATE '70's EARLY '80's. OR IS IT JUST THE BITS AND PIECES VHS TAPE, OF THAT SAME SHOW, THAT HAS BEEN CIRCULATING?
ALSO, DO YOU KNOW IF A FULL PRESS CONFERENCE VIDEO EXISTS OF THE 1996 MTV VIDEO AWARDS OF VAN HALEN ( DAVE, ED, ALEX, AND MIKE BEING INTERVIEWED), WHERE EVERYONE IS THROWING THEM
QUESTIONS, LEFT AND RIGHT. THE ONE WHERE ED DISCUSSES THAT BEFORE ANYTHING HE HAS TO GO IN AND GET A HIP REPLACEMENT, AND THE ONLY THING SO FAR IS THE 2 NEW SONGS WITH DAVE AND 1 VIDEO(WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN) BECAUSE OF THE VERBAL FIGHT THAT DAVE AND ED GOT INTO BECAUSE OF THIS INTERVIEW. I AM LOOKING FOR THIS PARTICULAR INTERVIEW, NOT WHAT WAS SHOWN ON MTV's ULTRASOUND WITH CLIPS, I WANT THE FULL PRESS CONFERENCE, IF IT EXISTS?
ALSO, DID YOU HERE ABOUT THE NEW 1984 VAN HALEN CONCERT FROM LAS VEGAS VHS THAT SURFACED. APPARENTLEY TO BE ABLE TO GET A COPY, YOU HAVE TO JOIN SOME SORT OF TREE AT VHTRADING.COM. WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT?

Hope all is well...here goes!
Concerning the Oakland show, that is the number one asked trade question. Everyone would just about kill to get it, but like you said...only the bits and pieces are around. There have been several false alarms on e-bay where someone claimed to have it and really didn't.
Concerning the 1996 press interview, I have seen the same footage as you where Ed is kind of pissy and talking about his priorities (hip replacement, baby steps, etc...) I have not seen anything more than what has been widely shown on MTV already. My understanding is that the real blow out occurred off camera, before (VH was not happy about Dave taking the limelight from Beck during the presentation)and then after the press footage you have seen. Dave wanted Ed to stop it with the hip talk; and Ed was getting more and more pissed off about Dave telling him what to do.
About VH Trading, I highly recommend it. I have been a member there since 1998 (alm5150); I haven't traded much recently since a drunk driver actually drove into my house and into my bootlegs. Trees are an awesome way to get what you need. Someone seeds the tree (supplies the video, CD, DVD etc...) and sends it to their branches after arranging a trade (usually 5-8 primary branches). Those branches arrange their trades and send it to their secondary branches ore leafs until everyone who wants a copy has one. The trade is usually for blank CDs plus postage and handling, 2:1 blanks (if they are burning a 2 cd show for you, you send 4 CDs, they keep 2 to cover shipping), or you can arrange an even trade (2 CDs burned for 2 CDs of the show you want, if you have a trade list). It doesn't always have to be VH you are trading either.
The rules are all on the site with more explanation...the best thing to do is sign up for the tree, request to be a leaf only (then you don't have to worry about coordinating trades coming in and going out). Then ask your "branch" for guidance. He/she will let you know what their CD requirements are (don't send cheap blanks they scratch easy) and you can arrange for one of the above trades depending on if you have a trade list or not. Don't be intimidated...it's fun...and for a while I was a very active branch...which is perfect for anyone building a collection if you arrange trades with everyone else.
