About Geoff Wickens
Expertise
I have a fairly vast knowledge of the history of The City of Vancouver, BC. All my knowledge has been learned through on-hands experience. I am apt to answer most any question in regards to the history of the city, the construction of its bridges and the history behind some of its buildings.

Experience
I drove cab for 5 years and in that time gave numerous city tours with full historical backgrounds. I have a thirst for history and an appetite for knowledge.

Question
Geoff, hello,

Interested in relocating to Vancouver.

1) Can you recommend some very affordable residential areas, that are near public transportation.

2) Is vehicle ownership advisable for getting around Vancouver. I currently live in downtown Seattle and have not owned a vehicle for the past 4 years!

3) Can you tell me what race relations are like there.

Many thanks for any information you can share.

Answer
Congratulations for thinking of moving to one of the most beautiful cities .... I can only answer 2 of your 3 questions:

1.  I am not a realtor so I cannot give you practical advice on this one.

2.  Depends - If you plan on only living / travelling in the City Of Vancouver, there is no problem - transit will suit your needs with minimal walking.  If you go from the burbs to Vancouver, transit may not be the best solution.  Again, it all depends on where you live and work and play.

3.  There are no race problems here in comparison to the USA.  We have a very low crime rate; we may have 15 - 20 murders a year in a city the same size as Seattle proper (approx 700,000 people live in Vancouver - the other 2 million live in the suburbs).

Hope to see you up here soon.

Geoff
